American Eagle Outfitters and The Marketing Strategies They Use to Seem Appealing to Customers
American Eagle Outfitters and The Marketing Strategies They Use to Seem Appealing to Customers April Economics Literacy Project In the article, Jason Bloomberg discusses how American Eagle Outfitters, a retail industry, is focusing on developing a new mobile application for their consumers. Since more than 50% of consumers use their phones when they are shopping, the retail industry wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. American Eagle has included special features like the AEO Radio in order to reinforce the ââ¬Å"in-storeâ⬠experience. The store has also experimented with geolocation. In order to increase traffic in stores, the retail store send promotions to a customer who is in proximity to the store. In addition, American Eagle has introduced a new feature called ââ¬Å"Reserve-Try-Buyâ⬠to allow customers the ability to reserve an item ahead of time in order to try it on. American Eagle is currently working on new upgrades on their loyalty program and new strategies to expand internationally in order to increase their revenue. This situation represents the economic principle that everyone faces tradeoffs. The retail company had to face the decision of how to promote their company. For example, the company had to trade the expansion of the web apps to the expansion of native apps. The company realized that with the focus of native apps, their opportunity cost is appealing to a broader range of people since only the most loyal customers will bother to download the application. However, the benefit is greater than the opportunity cost since the application will increase the engagement of loyal customers with the brand. In addition, this situation represents the economic principle that the cost of something is what you give up to get it. By investing their money into mobile apps, American Eagle has the opportunity cost of appealing to an audience who isnââ¬â¢t tech savvy (i.e. most grandparents and some parents). However, since their main audience is people within the ages of 18-25, their audience is more likely to be connected to the mobile application. This shows how this benefit exceeds the cost since American Eagle has continued to further invest in their digital strategy. Finally, another economic principle that reflects this situation is that people respond to incentives. As an employee of this company, headquarters has reached to all employees of how to increase traffic within a store since most customers shop online today. By introducing the program ââ¬Å"Reserve-Try-Buyâ⬠, customers have the incentive to visit the store. It could also push customers to buy more items within the store and, as a result, increase revenue. Another example is that since there is a higher demand for people to shop on their mobile devices, American Eagle is given the incentive to invest in their mobile application in order to increase revenue. This article relates to the concepts that we have discussed in class. American Eagle is currently in a monopolistic competitive market. Therefore, the company must differentiate its product in order to appeal to customers and have market power. American Eagle does this by revamping its digital strategy by including the AEO Radio, ââ¬Å"Reserve-Try-Buyâ⬠program, geolocation, etc. As a result, the company is able to gain market power by creating a closer connection to their customers and expanding the brand experience to mobile devices. In addition, we learned in class about how advertising affects the economy. We learned in class that companies try to differentiate themselves through style, quality, and location. The use of the mobile platform would push American Eagleââ¬â¢s advertising. Through geolocation, the company can advertise their location to their customers in order to increase traffic within the stores.

Middle East changing demographics and its effect on us national Case Study
Middle East changing demographics and its effect on us national security - Case Study Example The same organization was involved in WTC attacks of 9/11. Osama Bin Laden urges the Muslims, living in the pole-apart regions of the world, to take notice of the heinous crimes being committed by the Judo-Christian Alliance ruling over the world through the USA, Israel and their allies. He instigates the sentiments of the Muslims by reminding them the atrocities and cruelties have been being exercised against them since long in almost all countries and states. He alludes to the series of tortures applied by the non-Muslims upon the Muslims in the Russian territories, the CARS, Chechnya, Bosnia, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and other parts of the globe. He argues the very fact that the Muslims are looked down upon in Europe and are seriously suspected in the USA and Australia as well as the rest of the west. Since the atrocities of the non-Muslims are increasing day by day, jihad is the only way to eradicate these violations of Muslim rights and break into their powerful network. Bin Laden cites the holy verses of the Noble Quran, where the Muslims have been urged and invoked to strive against the evil wherever they find it within their environment. In other words, Bin Laden states violent struggle against the infidels as the jihad, which is the essential pillar of the faith of Islam. The Jews and Christians have inflicted lots of pains and sufferings upon the Muslims and apply social and cultural injustices and discriminations on the basis of their age-old biased ness and prejudice against Muslim. Since there is no possibility of stopping the Jews and Christians from displaying their atrocities on helpless Muslims, jihad (i.e. terrorist attack) is the only way to...Rather, she is eager to sustain her domination over all the economies of the world, and implement her own political and economic order on all independent states. Consequently, some of the racial and religious groups started a revolt against the US policies, which resulted in a state of constant conflict all over the world. Being the centre of warring religious groups, the Middle East turned out the worst possible land for the US dreams, and the fast changing demographic and strategic situation of the region left negative impact on the USA, where the USA had to allocate a huge amount of men, money and resources in order to subjugate the rebel forces. It applied negative affects on the US economy by putting it into the state of jeopardy. Before embarking upon the topic under study, it would be advisable to elaborate the Middle East and the terrorist organisation of Al Qaeda in brief. It has aptly been observed that geographical boundaries, strategic position, economic conditions and security strength determine the level of strengths of a nation, and the international community develops its relations with the nation keeping in view all these factors and assessments. Dakake, on the contrary, maintains quite different opinion of jihad. He associates jihad with mere strife against the evil temptations of the satanic forces. Jihad does not mean, according to him, the aggressive attitude and violence against oneââ¬â¢s enemies.

Criminal justice Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2
Criminal justice - Essay Example What affect has the courts had on inmate population and how itââ¬â¢s administered in the prisons? What type of action would be taken either short term or long term and why? Are cynical ideas common in corrections? How does this effect the criminal justice system as a whole? Is this cynicism present in other occupations and industries? Criminal Justice: Contemporary Problems Within the United States Corrections System The contemporary problems faced in the US corrections system today have given rise to the overcrowding within the current system. As an example New Yorkââ¬â¢s prison system (Rockefeller Drug Laws, 2001) has not kept up with the enormous increase in numbers of inmates. There are not enough programs to keep prisoners occupied, which results in idleness and increased tension levels. Expense is another factor that faces the correction system. In New York alone it costs 2 billion to construct the prisons to house the increasing number of drug offenders. The operating ex penses for maintaining the prisons comes to nearly $700 million per year. The increased number of drug related incarcerations have created racial inequities within the corrections system. Increasing number of African-American and Latino population have made up 70 percent of the prison population (David Swanson March 2010).
